SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 12

George Hines |
|
|
WHEREAS, A life made rich through meaningful service drew |
|
to a close with the passing of George Wayne Hines of Sulphur |
|
Springs on March 7, 2025, at the age of 85; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The son of George and Arbutis Hines, George Hines |
|
was born in Independence, West Virginia, on July 27, 1939, and he |
|
grew up with three siblings, Gloria, Velma, and Bonnie; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Answering his nation's call to duty, Mr. Hines |
|
joined the U.S. Air Force and over the course of eight years, he |
|
honed his skills working on aircraft; he went on to work with Dallas |
|
Airmotive, LTV Corporation, and Raytheon Company, where he served |
|
as a mechanic and senior quality engineer during his 32-year |
|
tenure; he also participated in a government research program at |
|
Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake in California; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Hines further distinguished himself as a |
|
reserve and security officer with the Farmersville Police |
|
Department; he was with the force for 23 years, and away from the |
|
job, he served as a CPR and first aid instructor; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Hines enjoyed the love |
|
and support of his wife, the former Lou Ann Burkhart, with whom he |
|
shared a rewarding marriage of more than three and a half decades; |
|
he was the devoted father of three stepdaughters, Janeen, Becky, |
|
and Patricia, and he took great pride in his grandchildren and |
|
great-grandchildren; moreover, he was a valued congregant of his |
|
church, and he loved singing there and at home; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Deeply dedicated to his family, his faith, and his |
|
community, George Hines earned the lasting respect and |
|
admiration of all who were privileged to know him; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th |
|
Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory |
|
of George Wayne Hines and extend heartfelt sympathy to the |
|
members of his family: to his wife, Lou Ann Hines; to his |
|
stepdaughters, Janeen Francis and her husband, Richard, Becky |
|
Hicks and her husband, Darrin, and Patricia Roff and her husband, |
|
Andy; to his sister, Bonnie Stehlik; to his grandchildren, Magan |
|
Henderson and her husband, Timmy, Tyler Francis and his wife, |
|
Brooke, McKenzie Davison and her husband, Tyler, and Michael |
|
Watkins; to his great-grandchildren, Eisley, Finn, and Lyncoln |
|
Rose Henderson, Maddox, Addilyn, and Jaxsyn Francis, Owen |
|
Davison, Michael Watkins Jr., and Makaylah Watkins; and to his |
|
other relatives and friends; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns |
|
this day, it do so in memory of George Hines. |
