R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Family and friends were deeply saddened by the |
|
passing of Mary E. Larsen Preuss Wilson of Sulphur Springs on |
|
June 23, 2025, at the age of 92; and |
|
WHEREAS, The daughter of Lawrence Larsen and Grace Anderson |
|
Larsen, the former Mary Larsen was born in Kansas City, Missouri, on |
|
September 16, 1932, and she grew up with the company of two |
|
brothers, Ralph and Jack; the family moved several times before |
|
settling in Texas when she was a teenager; after graduating from |
|
Navasota High School, she attended Sam Houston State Teachers |
|
College, where she met the love of her life, Eugene H. Preuss; they |
|
married after her freshman year, and they were later blessed with |
|
four children, Luanne, Suellen, Roy, and Ralph; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Preuss's career with Texas Power and Light took |
|
the family to Taylor, Waco, Elgin, and then Sulphur Springs, where |
|
Mrs. Preuss was able to complete her bachelor's degree in education |
|
nearby at East Texas State University; after the family returned to |
|
Taylor in 1979, she embarked on a 16-year career with the Taylor |
|
Independent School District and took great enjoyment in working |
|
with her sixth-grade students; and |
|
WHEREAS, Following Mr. Preuss's passing in 1988, she was |
|
fortunate enough to find love a second time and wed John Wilson in |
|
1995; they shared happy times traveling and enjoying life on Lake |
|
Buchanan in Burnet; following Mr. Wilson's death in 2000, she moved |
|
back to Sulphur Springs to be close to her sons; she enjoyed playing |
|
bridge, and she was a faithful member of First United Methodist |
|
Church; one of her beloved grandchildren, Henry Preuss, also |
|
preceded her in death; and |
|
WHEREAS, Although Mary Wilson will be deeply missed, she has |
|
left her family and friends with a wealth of memories that they will |
|
forever treasure; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature, 2nd |
|
Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of Mary E. Larsen |
|
Preuss Wilson and extend sincere condolences to the members of her |
|
family: to her children, Luanne Prince, Suellen Smith and her |
|
husband, Guy, Roy Preuss, and Ralph Preuss and his wife, Lisa; to |
|
her grandchildren, Kristin Armstrong Urbano and her husband, Nick, |
|
Robin Armstrong Bittick and her husband, Garrett, Rebecca Smith |
|
Grosswiler and her husband, Jake, Stuart Smith, Richard England and |
|
his wife, Sarah, and Rachel Preuss Mejia and her husband, Salvador; |
|
to her great-grandchildren, Izzy Urbano, Cameron and Rhett Bittick, |
|
Harley Smith, Lexi, Jaxon, Colton, and Kenzie Grosswiler, Allison |
|
McMillan and her husband, Austin, Dylan Clark and his wife, Callie, |
|
Porter, Archer, and Birdie England, Olive and Daisy Wilkinson, and |
|
Sebastian and Sage Mejia; and to her other relatives and friends; |
|
and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this |
|
day, it do so in memory of Mary E. Larsen Preuss Wilson. |
