SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 18
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Harry Sims
 
         WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and
  meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the family and
  friends of Harry James Sims of Sulphur Springs, who passed away on
  March 12, 2025, at the age of 73; and
         WHEREAS, The son of William Ivery and Omergene Sims, Harry
  Sims was born on April 3, 1951, and grew up sharing in the
  companionship of three sisters, Shirley, Barbara, and Linda, and a
  brother, Danny; he went on to work for Keller's Creamery for
  33 years; and
         WHEREAS, On March 30, 2001, Mr. Sims married the former
  Sherri Hankins, and the couple shared a rewarding union that
  spanned nearly a quarter century; he took great pride in his
  children, Derrik, Chudney, Lance, Lakendra, Monique, Staci, Kaci,
  and Tabias, and he delighted in spending time with his 17
  grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; in his leisure hours, he
  enjoyed playing dominoes and cards and watching sports, especially
  his favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys; and
         WHEREAS, Although Harry Sims is deeply missed, he has left
  his family and friends with a wealth of memories that they will
  forever treasure; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
  Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life
  of Harry James Sims and extend sincere condolences to the
  members of his family: to his wife, Sherri Sims; to his sons,
  Derrik Harris and his wife, Diana Debase, Chudney Beard and his
  wife, Kawanda, and Lance Hankins and his wife, Misti; to his
  daughters, Lakendra "Chere" Smith and her husband, Royce,
  Monique Roland Lewis and her husband, Jerome, Staci Hill and
  her husband, Steven, and Kaci Hankins and her husband,
  D. D. Berry; to his sisters, Shirley Pryor and her husband,
  W. C., Barbara Cobb, and Linda Hall; to his grandchildren and
  great-grandchildren; and to his other relatives and many
  friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns
  this day, it do so in memory of Harry Sims.
