R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the |
|
passing of Shirley Story of Sulphur Springs on January 6, 2025, at |
|
the age of 84; and |
|
WHEREAS, The daughter of Frank James Williams and Tressie |
|
Williams, the former Shirley Williams was born in Hopkins County on |
|
September 14, 1940, and she grew up with the companionship of five |
|
siblings, Tressie Mae, Billy, Earl, Frankie, and Robert; she worked |
|
as a waitress before becoming a stocker at Grocery Supply Company; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Devoted to her family, Mrs. Story took great pride |
|
in her four children, Ruth, Teresa, Billy, and Michael, and over the |
|
years, she had the pleasure of welcoming into her family 8 |
|
grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; her hobbies included |
|
collecting dolls; in all her endeavors, she drew strength from her |
|
Baptist faith; and |
|
WHEREAS, Those fortunate enough to have known Shirley Story |
|
will remember the way she touched their lives with her warmth and |
|
generosity, and she will forever hold a treasured place in their |
|
hearts; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature, 2nd |
|
Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Shirley Story |
|
and extend heartfelt sympathy to the members of her family: to her |
|
daughters, Ruth Thedford and Teresa Whaley and her husband, |
|
Michael; to her sons, Billy Howard and his wife, Alejandra |
|
Guerrero, and Michael Story and his wife, Amanda; to her |
|
grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and to her other relatives |
|
and friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this |
|
day, it do so in memory of Shirley Story. |
