R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Memories of a life well lived may help to comfort
  those saddened by the death of Marion Patricia VanDevender of
  Atlanta on July 27, 2025, at the age of 83; and
         WHEREAS, The daughter of E. L. and Elva Caron Cumberland, Pat
  VanDevender was born on May 23, 1942, in Kemper County,
  Mississippi, and grew up with the companionship of two sisters,
  Kaye and Peggy; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. VanDevender went on to share a rewarding
  65-year marriage with her husband, Gerald, and she took great pride
  in their four children, Doug, Brad, Jan, and Todd; with the passing
  years, she had the privilege of seeing her family grow to include 6
  grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, A woman of faith, Mrs. VanDevender was a valued
  congregant of First Baptist Church in Atlanta; in her leisure
  hours, she enjoyed reading, cooking, and sewing; and
         WHEREAS, While her loss is difficult to bear, Pat VanDevender
  leaves behind numerous friends and loved ones whose lives are far
  richer for having known her, and she will forever hold a treasured
  place in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature, 2nd
  Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Marion Patricia
  VanDevender and extend heartfelt sympathy to the members of her
  family: to her husband, Gerald VanDevender; to her sons, Doug
  VanDevender and his wife, Sarah Jo, and Brad VanDevender; to her
  daughter, Jan Giles; to her sisters, Kaye Johnson and her husband,
  Doug, and Peggy Nowell and her husband, Larry Wayne; to her
  grandchildren, Amber Jaynes, Trevor Giles, Miranda Champion,
  Elizabeth Giles, Meagan Thomas, and Tyler VanDevender; to her
  great-grandchildren; and to her other relatives and many friends;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this
  day, it do so in memory of Pat VanDevender.
