R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Memories of a life well lived may help to comfort
  those saddened by the passing of Ida Mae Barrett McMillan of De Kalb
  on July 18, 2025, at the age of 90; and
         WHEREAS, The daughter of Luke Barrett and Ida Shumake
  Barrett, the former Ida Barrett was born in De Kalb on April 4,
  1935; she grew up with four brothers, L. B., Morris, Benny, and
  Dale, and four sisters, Vynetta, Ethel, Eva, and Ola Maude; and
         WHEREAS, She married Floyd Edwin McMillan on June 18, 1955,
  and they went on to enjoy seven decades together; they moved to
  Dallas for employment, and Mrs. McMillan worked in the insurance
  industry as a keypunch operator; the couple was blessed with a son,
  Gregory, and a daughter, Tina; once the children were grown, the
  McMillans returned to their hometown; and
         WHEREAS, Sustained by a strong faith from an early age,
  Mrs. McMillan served as a church pianist for most of her life,
  having taught herself to play by ear; she enjoyed her church's ski
  trips, as well as motorhome travel with her husband, her sister
  Vynetta, and her brother-in-law Franklin; on her first cruise, in
  celebration of her 50th wedding anniversary, Mrs. McMillan
  developed a love of ocean voyages, and over the years, she and
  Mr. McMillan visited Alaska, Canada, Boston, Maine, and the
  Bahamas; she was also especially fond of her treasured dog,
  Pebbles; and
         WHEREAS, Although Ida McMillan is greatly missed by those she
  left behind, they will continue to find inspiration in her deep
  commitment to her family and her faith; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature, 2nd
  Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of Ida Mae Barrett
  McMillan and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family:
  to her husband, Floyd McMillan; to her daughter, Tina Wheeler, and
  her husband, Keith; to her grandchildren, Matthew Wheeler and his
  wife, Brittany, and Sarah Thompson and her husband, Jake; to her
  brother, Dale Barrett; to her sister-in-law, Norma Barrett; and to
  her many other relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this
  day, it do so in memory of Ida McMillan.
