Jimmie Ford |
|
|
WHEREAS, A life made rich through meaningful service drew |
|
to a close with the passing of Jimmie Ruth Jaynes Ford of |
|
Jefferson on August 9, 2025, at the age of 91; and |
|
WHEREAS, The daughter of Curtis and Fannie Schellinger |
|
Jaynes, the former Jimmie Jaynes was born in Jefferson on |
|
October 13, 1933, and she grew up with the companionship of two |
|
sisters, Cozette and Darthea; following her graduation from |
|
Jefferson High School in 1951, she continued her education at |
|
East Texas Baptist College; and |
|
WHEREAS, Professionally, Mrs. Ford distinguished herself |
|
during her tenure as the office manager for Johnson's Tire; |
|
highly civically engaged, she served as executive director of the |
|
Marion County Chamber of Commerce, and she belonged to VFW Post |
|
No. 10373 in Jefferson for a quarter century, presiding over both |
|
the local chapter and the district; in 1980, she was honored as |
|
Mother of the Year by the Texas Veterans of Foreign Wars |
|
Auxiliary and the Ladies Auxiliary; moreover, she was a longtime |
|
member of the Jessie Allen Wise Garden Club; she also was active |
|
on the Marion County Child Welfare Board and with the East Texas |
|
Council of Governments, and she assisted with the Historic |
|
Jefferson Foundation Candlelight Tour of Homes; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. Ford was blessed with the love and support |
|
of her husband, Edward Sherman Ford, who preceded her in death |
|
in 1989; above all else, she was a devoted mother to her |
|
daughter, Betty, and she delighted in becoming "Nana" to her |
|
grandson; a woman of faith, she was a valued congregant of |
|
First United Methodist Church of Jefferson; and |
|
WHEREAS, Although Jimmie Ford is greatly missed, she has |
|
left her loved ones with many cherished memories, and she will |
|
forever hold a special place in their hearts; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th |
|
Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life |
|
of Jimmie Ruth Jaynes Ford and extend deepest condolences to the |
|
members of her family: to her daughter, Betty Ford Grubbs, and |
|
her husband, Jeff; to her grandson, Joshua Lynn Grubbs; to her |
|
niece, Karen McIntosh, and her husband, Jan; to her nephews, |
|
Curtis Kasner and his wife, Nancy, Brad Tolleson and his wife, |
|
Susan, and Blair Tolleson and his wife, Maria; and to her other |
|
relatives and friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be |
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns |
|
this day, it do so in memory of Jimmie Ford. |
