R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Bill Presson of Longview was presented with the
  Korean Ambassador for Peace Medal from the Republic of Korea on
  August 5, 2025; and
         WHEREAS, This prestigious accolade is presented to United
  States veterans of the Korean War as an expression of appreciation
  from the Korean government; a U.S. Army veteran, Mr. Presson first
  arrived in Korea in December 1952 as a second lieutenant assigned to
  the 13th Engineer Combat Battalion, 7th Infantry Division; his many
  duties included repairing bunkers, installing machine gun
  emplacements, and designing trenches to protect troops during the
  Battle of Pork Chop Hill; after North and South Korea agreed to a
  ceasefire on July 27, 1953, he served on the United Nations team
  that was tasked with building the demarcation line, or the
  Armistice Line, that separates the two nations; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Presson began his military career with the
  U.S. Air Force in December 1950, and the following year, he joined
  the U.S. Army; following his return to civilian life, he worked as
  an oil production engineer for the Cities Service Company, which is
  today known as CITGO; in all his endeavors, he has enjoyed the love
  and support of his wife, Bonita, with whom he has shared a rewarding
  marriage that has spanned nearly 65 years; he is currently a
  resident of the Arabella of Longview Senior Living Center, where he
  is active in the Arabella Military Veterans Group; and
         WHEREAS, Bill Presson exemplified the highest ideals of the
  United States armed forces while carrying out his duties in the
  Korean War, and it is a pleasure to join in honoring him for his
  valiant service; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature, 2nd
  Called Session, hereby congratulate Bill Presson on receiving the
  Korean Ambassador for Peace Medal from the Republic of Korea and
  extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Presson as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas Senate.
