R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A life made rich through meaningful service drew to
  a close with the passing of Maxey Wayne Bruner of Longview on
  July 12, 2025, at the age of 90; and
         WHEREAS, Maxey Bruner was born on July 30, 1934, to Maxey and
  Dorothy Bruner, and he grew up with the companionship of two
  siblings, Roy and Elaine; answering his nation's call to duty, he
  joined the United States Navy and served on the USS Pine Island
  during the Korean War; he went on to enjoy a rewarding career with
  Texas Eastman, where he worked as a chemical operator for nearly
  four decades; and
         WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Bruner benefited from the
  love and support of his wife, Peggy, with whom he shared a
  fulfilling marriage of 70 years; he took great pride in their three
  children, David, Julie, and the late Michael Wayne Bruner, and with
  the passing years, he had the pleasure of seeing his family grow to
  include 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; a man of deep
  faith, he was an active member of his church and gave generously of
  his time to helping others; and
         WHEREAS, Those fortunate enough to have known Maxey Bruner
  will remember the way he touched their lives with his warmth and
  kindness, and he will forever hold a treasured place in their
  hearts; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature, 2nd
  Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Maxey Wayne
  Bruner and extend sincere condolences to the members of his family:
  to his wife, Peggy Ann Tipton Bruner; to his son, David Bruner; to
  his daughter, Julie Markum and her husband, Wes; to his
  grandchildren, Michael Bruner and his wife, Jennifer, Elizabeth
  Crook and her husband, Matthew, Alexandrea Pearcy and her husband,
  Kyle, Cori Starr and her husband, Jake, Chelsi Pitts, Noah Pitts,
  and Bayli Botter and her husband, Taylor; to his
  great-grandchildren, Maegan and Michael Bruner, Charlotte, Sarah,
  and Katherine Crook, Taylor, Abigail, and Johnathan Pearcy, Allie
  and Abbie Starr, and Emme and Branson Botter; to his sister, Elaine
  Jones; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this
  day, it do so in memory of Maxey Bruner.
