The fiscal implications of the bill cannot be determined due to the staffing and technology resources needed to establish and administer a designation program for disaster relief donations for more than 1,400 cities and counties being unknown.

Among other provisions, the bill would require the Secretary of State to establish and administer a designation program for applicable political subdivisions to designate a nonprofit organization or

financial institution to solicit and accept donations for disaster relief efforts during a declared disaster threatening the political subdivision. In the statute the bill would amend, a political subdivision is defined as a county or incorporated city.

The fiscal implications of the bill cannot be determined due to the staffing and technology resources needed to establish and administer the designation program for disaster relief donations for more than 1,400 counties and incorporated cities being unknown.

Local Government Impact

There could be an impact on certain counties and incorporated cities related to selecting and submitting a disaster relief donation program designee, as would be required by the bill.
