Amend CSHB 500 (house committee printing) by adding the following appropriately numbered SECTION to ARTICLE 7 of the bill and renumbering subsequent SECTIONS of that ARTICLE accordingly:

SECTION 7.____.  OFFICE OF THE ATTORNEY GENERAL: BACKPAY. All unexpended and unobligated balances remaining as of the effective date of this Act from the appropriations made to the Office of the Attorney General by Chapter 1170 (HB 1), Acts of the 88th Legislature, Regular Session, 2023 (the General Appropriations Act), for the purpose of providing salary payments to the attorney general for the period during the pendency of impeachment proceedings are appropriated for the two-year period beginning on the effective date of this Act to the Office of the Attorney General for the purpose of providing salary back payments to the attorney general for the amount of salary payments withheld during that period.
