Amend CSHB 500 (house committee report) as follows:

(1)  On page 70, line 2, strike "$226,884,563" and substitute "$224,244,563".

(2)  Add the following appropriately numbered SECTION to the bill and renumber subsequent SECTIONS of the bill accordingly:

SECTION ____.  HIGHER EDUCATION COORDINATING BOARD: UNMATCHED TEXAS MEDICAL STUDENT RESIDENCY PROGRAM. The amount of $2,640,000 is appropriated from the general revenue fund to the Higher Education Coordinating Board for the two-year period beginning on the effective date of this Act to fund three accredited transitional one-year residency training programs with at least four residency positions for each program for fourth-year Texas medical school students who are unmatched after the National Resident Matching Program in 2026 or 2027.
