Amend CSHB 500 (house committee report) as follows:

(1)  Add the following appropriately numbered SECTION to Article 3 of the bill and renumber subsequent SECTIONS of the article and references to those SECTIONS accordingly:

SECTION 3.____.  TEXAS EDUCATION AGENCY: SCHOOL DISTRICT PROPERTY TAX RELIEF. The amount of $2,500,000,000 is appropriated from the general revenue fund to the Texas Education Agency for the state fiscal biennium beginning September 1, 2025, to reduce the state compression percentage under Section 48.255, Education Code, to the lowest possible percentage.

(2)  On page 26, strike lines 11 through 19 and renumber subsequent SECTIONS of the article accordingly.
