Amend CSHB 1675 (house committee report) as follows:

(1)  On page 1, strike lines 11 through 18.

(2)  On page 1, line 19, strike "(4)" and substitute "(2)".

(3)  On page 1, between lines 22 and 23, insert the following:

(3)  "Pet remains" means the remains of a pet carcass that has been incinerated by an animal carcass incinerator for which a permit has been issued by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.

(4)  On page 2, line 1, strike "cremated" and substitute "pet".

(5)  On page 2, line 10, between "pet" and "with", insert "remains".

(6)  On page 2, strike lines 11 through 14.

(7)  On page 2, between lines 14 and 15, insert the following appropriately numbered SECTION to the bill and renumber subsequent SECTIONS of the bill accordingly:

SECTION ____.  Section 11.17, Tax Code, is amended to read as follows:

Sec. 11.17.  CEMETERIES. A person is entitled to an exemption from taxation of the property the person:

(1)  [he] owns and uses exclusively for human burial or for human and pet burial in accordance with Section 712.010, Health and Safety Code; and

(2)  does not hold for profit.
