Amend CSSB 27 (senate committee report) as follows:
(1) In the recital to SECTION 10 of the bill (page 5, line 1), between "(b-3)," and "(e-1)", insert "(c-1), (c-2),".
(2) In SECTION 10 of the bill, in amended Section 37.002(b)(1), Education Code (page 5, line 3), between "(1)" and "interferes", insert "repeatedly".
(3) In SECTION 10 of the bill, in amended Section 37.002(c), Education Code (page 5, line 30), between "available" and the period, insert "and, not later than the third class day after the day on which the student was removed from class, a conference in which the teacher has been provided an opportunity to participate has been held in accordance with Section 37.009(a)".
(4) In SECTION 10 of the bill, in amended Section 37.002(c), Education Code (page 5, lines 31 and 32), strike ", regardless of the teacher's consent, until" and substitute "unless the teacher provides written consent for the student's return or".
(5) In SECTION 10 of the bill, immediately following amended Section 37.002(c), Education Code (page 5, between lines 37 and 38), insert the following:
(c-1) A return to class plan required under Subsection (c) must be created before or at the conference described by that subsection. A plan created before the conference must be discussed at the conference.
(c-2) The commissioner shall adopt a model return to class plan for use by a school district in creating a return to class plan for a student under Subsection (c).
(6) In SECTION 10 of the bill, in amended Section 37.002(d), Education Code (page 5, line 45), between "available" and the period, insert "and a conference in which the teacher has been provided an opportunity to participate has been held in accordance with Section 37.009(a)".
