AUTHOR'S / SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT

H.B. 1506 amends current law relating to the issuance of a license to carry a handgun to certain retired county court judges.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency.

SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS

SECTION 1. Amends Section 411.201(a)(3), Government Code, to provide that "retired judicial officer" means certain judges, including a retired judge of a constitutional county court or statutory county court who served at least 48 months in a constitutional county court or statutory county court, and to make nonsubstantive changes.

SECTION 2. Makes application of this Act prospective.

SECTION 3. Effective date: September 1, 2025.
