AUTHOR'S / SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT
H.B. 2193 amends current law relating to a study by the Texas Veterans Commission regarding the provision of veterans benefits in this state.
RULEMAKING AUTHORITY
This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency.
SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS
SECTION 1. (a) Defines "commission."
(b) Requires the Texas Veterans Commission (TVC) to conduct a study to determine certain information.
(c) Authorizes TVC, in determining the costs under Subsection (b)(5) (relating to the costs to implement a certain service delivery system) of this section, to consider collocating claims benefit advisors with facilities, institutions, and organizations that are currently providing services to veterans.
(d) Requires TVC, not later than June 1, 2026, to submit to the governor, the lieutenant governor, the speaker of the house of representatives, and each member of the legislature a report on the results of the study and any recommendations for legislative or other action.
SECTION 2. Provides that this Act expires January 1, 2027.
SECTION 3. Effective date: upon passage or September 1, 2025.
