Committee Report (Unamended) |
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE
Under current law, the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) is required to post on its website certain information regarding financial assistance applications for the State Water Implementation Fund for Texas. The bill sponsor has informed the committee that similar requirements do not apply to other financial assistance programs monitored by the TWDB and that staff spend significant time reviewing and redacting sensitive information to adhere to state public information law. S.B. 1532 seeks to reduce unnecessary administrative burdens on the TWDB by eliminating the requirement for the TWDB to post online certain information from applications for the State Water Implementation Fund for Texas.
|
CRIMINAL JUSTICE IMPACT
It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not expressly create a criminal offense, increase the punishment for an existing criminal offense or category of offenses, or change the eligibility of a person for community supervision, parole, or mandatory supervision.
|
RULEMAKING AUTHORITY
It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, department, agency, or institution.
|
ANALYSIS
S.B. 1532 amends the Water Code to remove from the information regarding the use of the State Water Implementation Fund for Texas that is required to be posted by the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) on its website and regularly updated any nonconfidential information submitted to the TWDB as part of an application for financial assistance from the fund that is approved by the TWDB.
