BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE
The bill sponsor has informed the committee that nursing students and licensed nurses do not have easy access to certain nursing education data from the Texas Center for Nursing Workforce Studies (TCNWS). S.B. 2058 seeks to ensure nursing education data is readily available by requiring certain state agencies to post a link to the most recent TCNWS reports on their websites.

It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not expressly create a criminal offense, increase the punishment for an existing criminal offense or category of offenses, or change the eligibility of a person for community supervision, parole, or mandatory supervision.

It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, department, agency, or institution.

S.B. 2058 amends the Education Code to require the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board to post prominently on the home page of its website a link to the most recent nursing education reports produced by the Texas Center for Nursing Workforce Studies (TCNWS).
