A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to a study on mold contamination in housing developments |
|
|
supported by financial assistance administered by the Texas |
|
|
Department of Housing and Community Affairs. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. (a) In this section, "department" means the |
|
|
Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs. |
|
|
(b) Using existing resources, the department shall conduct |
|
|
a study on the number of incidents and causes of mold contamination |
|
|
in housing developments that are wholly or partly supported by |
|
|
financial assistance the department administers. |
|
|
(c) Not later than September 1, 2026, the department shall |
|
|
prepare and submit to the legislature a written report that: |
|
|
(1) summarizes the results of the study conducted |
|
|
under this section; and |
|
|
(2) recommends a course of action for preventing and |
|
|
remediating incidents and causes of mold contamination in housing |
|
|
developments that are wholly or partly supported by financial |
|
|
assistance the department administers. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act expires September 1, 2027. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
