A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to a study conducted by the secretary of state regarding |
|
|
compliance with high school deputy registrar obligations. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 13.046, Election Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsection (i) to read as follows: |
|
|
(i) The secretary of state shall conduct an annual study on |
|
|
each high school deputy registrar's compliance with this section. |
|
|
In conducting the study, the secretary shall monitor high school |
|
|
student voter registration and compile data for each public and |
|
|
private high school. The secretary shall publish the results of the |
|
|
study on the secretary's Internet website. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2025-2026 |
|
|
school year. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
