A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the board of directors of Somervell County Hospital |
|
|
District. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subtitle A, Title 3, Special District Local Laws |
|
|
Code, is amended by adding Chapter 1123 to read as follows: |
|
|
CHAPTER 1123. SOMERVELL COUNTY HOSPITAL DISTRICT |
|
|
SUBCHAPTER A. GENERAL PROVISIONS |
|
|
Sec. 1123.0001. DEFINITIONS. In this chapter: |
|
|
(1) "Board" means the board of directors of the |
|
|
district. |
|
|
(2) "District" means the Somervell County Hospital |
|
|
District. |
|
|

|
SUBCHAPTER B. DISTRICT ADMINISTRATION |
|
|
Sec. 1123.051. ELECTION OF DIRECTORS. An election shall be |
|
|
held on the uniform election date in May as appropriate to elect the |
|
|
appropriate number of directors for four-year terms. |
|
|
SECTION 2. (a) The members of the board of directors |
|
|
elected in May 2026 shall draw lots to determine which two directors |
|
|
shall serve two-year terms and which three directors shall serve |
|
|
three-year terms. |
|
|
(b) The members of the board of directors elected in May |
|
|
2027 shall serve four-year terms. |
|
|
(c) Successor directors shall serve four-year terms. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
