detection methods for the disease and the stages of the disease; and |

for the disease, and a brief description of the risks and possible |
side effects of treatment. |
(b) A school district, with the written consent of the |
Department of State Health Services, may provide the information |
required by this section to district students and the parents of |
district students by a method different from the method prescribed |
by the department under Subsection (a) if the department determines |
that method would be effective in bringing the information to the |
attention of the parents of each student. |
SECTION 2. As soon as practicable after the effective date |
of this Act, the Department of State Health Services shall |
prescribe the procedures required by Section 38.0026, Education |
Code, as added by this Act. |
SECTION 3. This Act applies beginning with the 2025-2026 |
school year. |
SECTION 4. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
