A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to requests for law enforcement agency reports from the |
|
|
attorney general related to crime victims' compensation |
|
|
applications. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Article 56B.054(f), Code of Criminal Procedure is |
|
|
amended to read as follows: |
|
|
Art. 56B.054(f) On request by the attorney general and not later |
|
|
than the 14th business day after the date of the request, a law |
|
|
enforcement agency shall release to the attorney general all |
|
|
reports, including witness statements and criminal history record |
|
|
information, to allow the attorney general to determine whether a |
|
|
claimant or victim qualifies for an award and the extent of the |
|
|
qualification. Information received by the attorney general under |
|
|
this subsection is not subject to release under Texas Government |
|
|
Code Chapter 552. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
