A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the eligibility of a trustee of certain school |
|
|
districts for employment by those districts. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 11.063, Education Code, is amended to |
|
|
read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 11.063. ELIGIBILITY FOR EMPLOYMENT. (a) Except as |
|
|
provided by Subsection (b), a [A] trustee of an independent school |
|
|
district may not accept employment with that school district until |
|
|
the first anniversary of the date the trustee's membership on the |
|
|
board ends. |
|
|
(b) Subsection (a) does not apply to the trustee of a school |
|
|
district that is entitled to an allotment under Section 48.101(b). |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
