A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to funding for agricultural research and programs at Texas |
|
|
A&M University and Prairie View A&M University. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 86, Education Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 86.25 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 86.25. USE OF MONEY FOR AGRICULTURE PROGRAMS. To |
|
|
provide equity in the receipt of federal grants to support |
|
|
agricultural research and extension programs at this state's land |
|
|
grant universities, Texas A&M University may not use money |
|
|
appropriated to the university for agricultural research and |
|
|
programs that qualifies as state matching funding for federal |
|
|
grants that support those programs at a ratio of state money |
|
|
appropriated to federal money granted for those programs for a |
|
|
state fiscal biennium that exceeds the ratio of state money |
|
|
appropriated to federal money granted for those programs to Prairie |
|
|
View A&M University for the same purpose for that biennium. |

|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
