A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to software installed in certain voting system equipment. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 122, Election Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 122.0332 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 122.0332. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR APPROVAL OF |
|
|
ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT. In addition to other requirements for |
|
|
approval, each unit of electronic equipment in a voting system must |
|
|
be equipped with software that: |
|
|
(1) tracks all input and activity on the electronic |
|
|
equipment; |
|
|
(2) is capable of creating a record of the information |
|
|
tracked under Subdivision (1); and |
|
|
(3) cannot be disabled. |
|
|
SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only |
|
|
to an election ordered on or after the effective date of this Act. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
