A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to providing for a delay in the implementation of certain |
|
|
changes to the assignment of performance ratings under the public |
|
|
school accountability system. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 39, Education Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 39.057 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 39.057. DELAY IN IMPLEMENTATION OF CERTAIN CHANGES TO |
|
|
ACCOUNTABILITY RATING SYSTEM. Notwithstanding any other law, the |
|
|
commissioner may not implement a change in the methods and |
|
|
standards adopted under Section 39.054 that would affect the |
|
|
performance ratings assigned under that section until the first |
|
|
anniversary of the adoption of the change. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
