A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to designating January 6 as Defenders of the United States
  Capitol Recognition Day.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Subchapter C, Chapter 662, Government Code, is
  amended by adding Section 662.090 to read as follows:
         Sec. 662.090.  DEFENDERS OF THE UNITED STATES CAPITOL
  RECOGNITION DAY. (a)  January 6 is Defenders of the United States
  Capitol Recognition Day in honor of the individuals who defended
  the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021, during the violent
  insurrection that claimed the lives of five law enforcement
  officers and injured over 100 other officers.
         (b)  Defenders of the United States Capitol Recognition Day
  shall be regularly observed by appropriate ceremonies and
  activities.
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
