A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to designating January 6 as Defenders of the United States |
|
|
Capitol Recognition Day. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 662, Government Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 662.090 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 662.090. DEFENDERS OF THE UNITED STATES CAPITOL |
|
|
RECOGNITION DAY. (a) January 6 is Defenders of the United States |
|
|
Capitol Recognition Day in honor of the individuals who defended |
|
|
the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021, during the violent |
|
|
insurrection that claimed the lives of five law enforcement |
|
|
officers and injured over 100 other officers. |
|
|
(b) Defenders of the United States Capitol Recognition Day |
|
|
shall be regularly observed by appropriate ceremonies and |
|
|
activities. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
