A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the installation and maintenance by the Texas |
|
|
Department of Transportation of highway signs for certain cultural |
|
|
attractions. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. (a) Notwithstanding any distance or attendance |
|
|
limitations established under the Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic |
|
|
Control Devices for recreational and cultural interest area guide |
|
|
signs, and subject to Subsection (c) of this section, the Texas |
|
|
Department of Transportation shall erect and maintain a sign to |
|
|
designate the entrance to the Gulf of America at an appropriate |
|
|
location along Interstate Highway 45 near Galveston. |
|
|
(b) The sign required by Subsection (a) of this section must |
|
|
include the phrase "Welcome to Galveston, Gateway to the Gulf of |
|
|
America." |
|
|
(c) Except as otherwise provided by Subsection (a) of this |
|
|
section, a sign erected under this section may not violate the Texas |
|
|
Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices or the Manual on Uniform |
|
|
Traffic Control Devices issued by the United States Department of |
|
|
Transportation Federal Highway Administration. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
