A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the labeling of products as milk and milk products. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 435.001, Health and Safety Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Subdivisions (2-a) and (2-b) to read as follows: |
|
|
(2-a) "Milk" means a liquid secreted by the mammary |
|
|
glands of female mammals. |
|
|
(2-b) "Milk product" means a product containing milk. |
|
|
SECTION 2. Section 435.007, Health and Safety Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Subsection (d) to read as follows: |
|
|
(d) A person may not represent, label, or advertise a |
|
|
product as: |
|
|
(1) milk if the product is not milk; or |
|
|
(2) a milk product if the product is not a milk |
|
|
product. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
