A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|

|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to a tenant's receipt of a security deposit refund. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 92.103, Property Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsection (d) to read as follows: |
|
|
(d) The tenant is entitled to receive the refund of a |
|
|
security deposit in the tenant's choice of: |
|
|
(1) a check, money order, or other traceable or |
|
|
negotiable instrument; or |
|
|
(2) a credit applied to the form of payment used to pay |
|
|
the security deposit, including a credit card or other electronic |
|
|
payment method. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
