A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to the salary of bailiffs appointed by certain district
  courts in Webb County.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Sections 53.009(d) and (e), Government Code, are
  amended to read as follows:
         (d)  Each [The] bailiff appointed by a [the] judge of the
  341st or 406th district court [District Court] is entitled to
  receive a salary set by the commissioners court [judge] in an amount
  that is commensurate with the salary paid the bailiffs of other
  courts with similar duties. The salary is paid out of the general
  fund of the county.
         (e)  A bailiff is entitled to receive from the county in
  which the bailiff [he] serves a salary set by the judge or the
  commissioners court, as applicable, in an amount that does not
  exceed the salary of the chief deputy sheriff of the county. A
  [The] judge who sets the salary for a bailiff shall give each
  commissioners court in the district written notification of the
  amount of compensation to be paid by the county. The salary is paid
  out of the general fund of the county.
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
