AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to patient data maintained by pharmacy benefit managers. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 4151, Insurance Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 4151.1531 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 4151.1531. SECURITY OF PATIENT DATA. A pharmacy |
|
|
benefit manager may not store or process patient data for a resident |
|
|
of this state in a location outside of the United States or its |
|
|
territories. |
|
|
SECTION 2. Section 4151.1531, Insurance Code, as added by |
|
|
this Act, applies only to a contract entered into or renewed on or |
|
|
after the effective date of this Act. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
