A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to font and type size requirements for certain political |
|
|
advertising disclosures. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 255.001, Election Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsection (a-1) to read as follows: |
|
|
(a-1) The disclosure required by Subsection (a) for |
|
|
political advertising other than broadcast political advertising |
|
|
must be in a font that is easily readable and type size that is no |
|
|
smaller than 9 points. |
|
|
SECTION 2. The changes in law made by this Act apply only to |
|
|
political advertising that is published or distributed on or after |
|
|
the effective date of this Act. The publication or distribution of |
|
|
political advertising before the effective date of this Act is |
|
|
governed by the law in effect on the date the advertising was |
|
|
published or distributed, and the former law is continued in effect |
|
|
for that purpose. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
