A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the operation of motor-assisted scooters. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 551.352, Transportation Code, is amended |
|
|
by adding Subsection (f) to read as follows: |
|
|
(f) A person operating a motor-assisted scooter on a street, |
|
|
highway, sidewalk, or bicycle path in accordance with this section |
|
|
must attach to the back of the scooter a flag, in the manner |
|
|
prescribed by department rule. |
|
|
SECTION 2. (a) Not later than December 1, 2025, the |
|
|
Department of Public Safety shall adopt rules necessary to |
|
|
implement Section 551.352(f), Transportation Code, as added by this |
|
|
Act. |
|
|
(b) Notwithstanding Section 551.352(f), Transportation |
|
|
Code, as added by this Act, a person is not required to comply with |
|
|
the requirements of that subsection until February 1, 2026. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
