A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to appointment of the members of the early voting ballot |
|
|
board. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 87.002, Election Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsections (c-1) and (c-2) to read as follows: |
|
|
(c-1) The county chairs submitting the list of names of |
|
|
persons eligible to serve on the early voting ballot board for a |
|
|
general election for state and county officers under Subsection (c) |
|
|
must submit the list of names not later than: |
|
|
(1) June 30 of each year in a county with a population |
|
|
of more than 500,000; or |
|
|
(2) July 31 of each year in a county with a population |
|
|
of 500,000 or less. |
|
|
(c-2) The county election board shall appoint the members of |
|
|
the early voting ballot board under Subsection (c) not later than |
|
|
August 15 of each year. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
