A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to certain provisions required to be included in teacher |
|
|
employment contracts. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 21.002, Education Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsection (a-1) to read as follows: |
|
|
(a-1) A contract described by Subsection (a) must include |
|
|
provisions that: |
|
|
(1) specify the number of days of service during which |
|
|
the educator is required to perform duties or responsibilities |
|
|
under the contract, including duties and responsibilities related |
|
|
to the instruction and supervision of students; |
|
|
(2) specify the first and last days of service of the |
|
|
contract term; and |
|
|
(3) require the district employing the educator to |
|
|
compensate the educator at the educator's daily rate of pay for any |
|
|
additional days of service that exceed the number of days of service |
|
|
specified under Subdivision (1). |
|
|
SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only |
|
|
to a contract entered into on or after the effective date of this |
|
|
Act. A contract entered into before the effective date of this Act |
|
|
is governed by the law in effect on the date the contract was |
|
|
entered into, and the former law is continued in effect for that |
|
|
purpose. |

|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
