A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to additional state aid for school districts for the |
|
|
provision of certain prekindergarten classes. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter G, Chapter 48, Education Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 48.316 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 48.316. ADDITIONAL STATE AID FOR CERTAIN |
|
|
PREKINDERGARTEN PROGRAMS. A school district is entitled to |
|
|
additional state aid in an amount equal to the difference, if the |
|
|
difference is greater than zero, between: |
|
|
(1) the amount necessary to fully compensate the |
|
|
district for operating costs for prekindergarten classes provided |
|
|
through a contract with a community-based child-care provider under |
|
|
Section 29.153(g), a private entity under Section 29.1532, or an |
|
|
eligible private provider under Section 29.171, including costs |
|
|
associated with staffing, instructional materials, facilities, and |
|
|
curriculum requirements; and |
|
|
(2) the amount to which the district is otherwise |
|
|
entitled under this chapter for students in average daily |
|
|
attendance in a prekindergarten class described by Subdivision (1). |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
