A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to compliance by a fire department with certain minimum |
|
standards adopted by the Texas Commission on Fire Protection. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 419, Government Code, is |
|
amended by adding Section 419.0471 to read as follows: |
|
Sec. 419.0471. EXTENSION TO COMPLY WITH COMMISSION |
|
STANDARDS. (a) A fire department may request an extension from the |
|
commission to comply with the minimum standards adopted under |
|
Section 419.047. The commission shall grant a request for an |
|
extension if the fire department provides evidence the commission |
|
finds sufficient to justify the extension. |
|
(b) The commission shall adopt rules necessary to implement |
|
this section. |
|
(c) This section expires September 1, 2027. |
|
SECTION 2. Not later than April 1, 2026, the Texas |
|
Commission on Fire Protection shall adopt the rules required to |
|
implement Section 419.0471, Government Code, as added by this Act. |
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
