A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the extension of groundwater reduction target years |
|
|
established by the Harris-Galveston Subsidence District |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Chapter 8801, Special District Laws Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 8801.1121, which reads as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 8801.1121. Groundwater Reduction Target Extension. (a) |
|
|
Notwithstanding any other provision of law or rule adopted by the |
|
|
Harris-Galveston Subsidence District, all deadlines for |
|
|
groundwater reduction mandates and conversion requirements set |
|
|
forth by the District are hereby extended by five (5) years from |
|
|
their original scheduled dates. |
|
|
(b) This extension applies to all applicable entities, |
|
|
including but not limited to: |
|
|
1. Municipalities |
|
|
2. Water utilities |
|
|
3. Industrial users |
|
|
4. Groundwater permit holders |
|
|
(c) The Harris-Galveston Subsidence District shall amend its |
|
|
regulations and enforcement schedules within 90 days of the |
|
|
effective date of this Act. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives a |
|
|
vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2025 |
