A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to individuals who are considered opportunity youth for |
|
|
purposes of administering certain federal workforce development |
|
|
funds. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 302, Labor Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 302.0145 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 302.0145. OPPORTUNITY YOUTH. For purposes of |
|
|
administering any federal workforce development funds available to |
|
|
assist opportunity youth in this state, unless federal law provides |
|
|
otherwise, the term "opportunity youth" means individuals who are: |
|
|
(1) at least 16 years of age but younger than 27 years |
|
|
of age; |
|
|
(2) unemployed; and |
|
|
(3) not enrolled in secondary or postsecondary |
|
|
education. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
