A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the state ambient air quality standard for benzene. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 382, Health and Safety |
|
|
Code, is amended by adding Section 382.0162 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 382.0162. REEVALUATION OF STATE AMBIENT AIR QUALITY |
|
|
STANDARD FOR BENZENE. If monitoring or modeling data indicates an |
|
|
area is exceeding or likely exceeding a national or state ambient |
|
|
air quality standard for benzene, the commission shall, as soon as |
|
|
practicable, reevaluate the state ambient air quality standard for |
|
|
benzene and update relevant exposure guidelines. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
