A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to nursing rooms provided by public employers. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 619.004, Government Code, is amended to |
|
|
read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 619.004. PUBLIC EMPLOYER RESPONSIBILITIES. (a) A |
|
|
public employer shall provide: |
|
|
(1) [provide] a reasonable amount of break time for an |
|
|
employee to express breast milk each time the employee has need to |
|
|
express the milk; [and] |
|
|
(2) [provide] a place to serve as a nursing room, other |
|
|
than a multiple user bathroom, that is shielded from view and free |
|
|
from intrusion from other employees and the public where the |
|
|
employee can express breast milk; and |
|
|
(3) a sign-in sheet for the use of the nursing room |
|
|
that is managed by a designated employee. |
|
|
(b) A public employer shall ensure that the nursing room and |
|
|
the sign-in sheet for the use of the nursing room are available only |
|
|
to employees who express breast milk. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
