A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the eligibility of a service member or veteran of the |
|
|
United States armed forces to participate in a veterans treatment |
|
|
court program based on citizenship status. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 124.002, Government Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsection (c-1) to read as follows: |
|
|
(c-1) Access to a veterans treatment court program may not |
|
|
be limited or denied to any veteran or member of the United States |
|
|
armed forces under Subsection (a) solely based on the veteran's or |
|
|
member's citizenship status. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
