A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
relating to a study by the Texas A&M Transportation Institute on |
|
wireless energy transmission for electric vehicles. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. STUDY ON WIRELESS ENERGY TRANSMISSION FOR |
|
ELECTRIC VEHICLES. (a) The Texas A&M Transportation Institute, in |
|
consultation with the Texas Department of Transportation, shall |
|
conduct a study on wireless energy transmission for electric |
|
vehicles. |
|
(b) The study must: |
|
(1) assess the various methods, including the use of |
|
magnetic induction, to transfer power wirelessly to electric |
|
vehicles while the vehicles are in motion; |
|
(2) evaluate the feasibility of implementing the |
|
methods described by Subdivision (1) of this subsection on roads in |
|
this state; |
|
(3) identify roads, with priority given to toll roads, |
|
for implementation of the methods described by Subdivision (1) of |
|
this subsection; and |
|
(4) estimate the financial and any other benefits to |
|
this state of implementing the methods described by Subdivision (1) |
|
of this subsection. |
|
(c) Not later than September 1, 2026, the Texas A&M |
|
Transportation Institute shall submit a report to the legislature |
|
that includes the results of the study and any associated |
|
recommendations. |
|
SECTION 2. EXPIRATION. This Act expires December 31, 2026. |
|
SECTION 3. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Act takes effect September |
|
1, 2025. |
