A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the posting of certain election declarations on the |
|
|
Internet website of the governmental entity holding the election. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 2.053, Election Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsection (f) to read as follows: |
|
|
(f) If a declaration is made under Subsection (a), the |
|
|
political subdivision shall post the declaration on its Internet |
|
|
website until the 30th day after the date the unopposed candidate is |
|
|
sworn into office. |
|
|
SECTION 2. Section 2.081(b), Election Code, is amended to |
|
|
read as follows: |
|
|
(b) If a measure is declared moot under this section and is |
|
|
removed from the ballot, the authority holding the election shall |
|
|
post notice of the declaration: |
|
|
(1) during early voting by personal appearance and on |
|
|
election day, at each polling place that would have been used for |
|
|
the election on the measure; and |
|
|
(2) on the authority's Internet website until the 30th |
|
|
day after the date of the election. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
