A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to a toll-free telephone hotline established by the Texas |
|
|
Department of Transportation for reporting dangerous road |
|
|
conditions. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter J, Chapter 201, Transportation Code, |
|
|
is amended by adding Section 201.813 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 201.813. TOLL-FREE TELEPHONE HOTLINE TO REPORT |
|
|
DANGEROUS ROAD CONDITIONS. (a) The department shall establish and |
|
|
maintain a toll-free telephone service line that enables a person |
|
|
to report dangerous road conditions on a road in the state highway |
|
|
system. |
|
|
(b) The department may contract with any person for the |
|
|
management and operation of the toll-free telephone hotline |
|
|
established under this section. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
