A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the operation of oversize and overweight vehicles |
|
|
transporting precast concrete products. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Chapter 622, Transportation Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subchapter L to read as follows: |
|
|
SUBCHAPTER L. VEHICLES TRANSPORTING PRECAST CONCRETE PRODUCTS |
|
|
Sec. 622.171. ELIGIBILITY FOR CERTAIN PERMITS. (a) In this |
|
|
section: |
|
|
(1) "Nondivisible load" means a load that cannot |
|
|
reasonably be dismantled. |
|
|
(2) "Precast concrete product" means concrete |
|
|
engineered and cast into a specified shape in a precast concrete |
|
|
manufacturing facility for the purpose of transporting to a job |
|
|
site to be erected or placed into a final structure. |
|
|
(b) A single motor vehicle transporting precast concrete |
|
|
products may obtain in conjunction with each other: |
|
|
(1) a permit issued under Section 623.011; and |
|
|
(2) a permit issued under this subtitle authorizing |
|
|
the vehicle to operate at a width that does not exceed 12 feet, a |
|
|
length that does not exceed 110 feet, or both. |
|
|
(c) A single motor vehicle transporting more than one |
|
|
precast concrete product is considered a nondivisible load for |
|
|
purposes of a permit described by Subsection (b)(2). |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
