A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to contracting with companies that boycott or discriminate |
|
|
against certain entities. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. This Act may be cited as the "Freedom of Speech |
|
|
Act." |
|
|
SECTION 2. Section 403.606, Government Code, is amended to |
|
|
read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 403.606. CERTAIN PERSONS INELIGIBLE. A person is not |
|
|
eligible to submit an application to the comptroller or enter into |
|
|
an agreement under this subchapter if the person is a company that |
|
|
is listed as ineligible to receive a state contract or investment |
|
|
under Chapter 808, 809,2270, [2271,] or 2275[2274, as added by |
|
|
Chapters529(S.B.13),530(S.B.19),and975(S.B.2116), ). Acts of the |
|
|
87th Legislature, Regular Session, 2021]. |
|
|
SECTION 3. Section 2400.0015, Government Code, is repealed. |
|
|
SECTION 4. The following chapters of the Government Code |
|
|
are repealed: |
|
|
(1) Chapter 808; |
|
|
(2) Chapter 809; |
|
|
(3) Chapter 2271; |
|
|
(4) Chapter 2274; and |
|
|
SECTION 5. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1,2025. |
